In the Queen's Speech debate yesterday at the National Assembly as a Conservative group we tabled several amendments to the Assembly Government's motion. One of the amendments noted our regret that the UK Government's legislative programme did not support the establishment of St Davids day as a national bank holiday. Naturally, we would look to replace one of the existing bank holidays such as May day with this new holiday. It was interesting to note that all of the Plaid Cymru Assembly Members voted against our amendment to make March 1st a bank holiday. It is obvious that under this new Labour led coalition Government Plaid Cymru have not only betrayed their nationalistic principles they have also betrayed their patriotic principles as well. So much for calling themselves the party of Wales.
