Unless you were living on a different planet, or perhaps spending a few days on Caldey Island, you will have failed not to notice that last weekend saw the launch of the final book in the Harry Potter series.

I dont know whether i have missed out or not, but i have not read any of the seven books written by JK Rowling nor watched any of the films. Harry Potter has just passed me by. Give me Dr Who, the Daleks, Cyberman and the Master any day.

But i digress again, and what may you indeed be asking as Harry Potter got to do rail travel

Well how many of you know that JK Rowling was inspired to write the first Harry Potter book whilst on a train between London and Manchester (remember you can catch a train direct to Manchester from Milford Haven and Haverfordwest).

And no doubt drawing similar inspiration whilst waiting to pass through Merlins Bridge, a Mrs Trellis of Herrbrandston is to begin writing a trilogy on Barry Portar, who wants to forgo his broomstick and explore the world of Pembrokeshire and beyond.....

By train, he knows he can get to Carmarthen for the shops, Swansea for the nightlife, and Cardiff for the Wales Millenium Centre and Dr Who exhibition but he needs help as he's never got the train before. He's also thinking of getting a car, but something is holding him back.

Mrs Trellis also needs help and she has asked me to ask you to provide your advice to Barry Portar. What would you say to him, to encourage him to take the train? Or should he take the car and why......

Drop me a line, and I'll print the best advice.
