St Davids RNLI Tamar class lifeboat launched yesterday afternoon (Thursday) to go to the aid of a swimmer who had dislocated his shoulder near Porth Melgan beach.
The casualty was ashore on cliffs near the beach. The lifeboat arrived on the scene shortly before 3pm. Crew volunteers then boarded its Y boat and went to the swimmer. They administered first aid and pain relief.
After the man was stabilised he was then transferred to the lifeboat. A further six swimmers were also transferred to the lifeboat as a precaution, and all were conveyed back to St Davids lifeboat station.
On arrival at the slipway the injured swimmer was met by ambulance paramedics and the local coastguard team.
The lifeboat returned to her moorings at 3.40pm.
