There will be fun for all the family in Moylegrove this August Bank Holiday weekend.
There are activities and stalls each day from10:30am to 4:30pm, and a barbecue and dancing tomorrow (Saturday) night.
But it won’t be much fun for the crows. Forty assorted scarecrows will be set out in and around the village, which is next to the popular picnic spot of Ceibwr Bay.
They are all made by local residents and visitors will be able to follow a trail starting at the Old School Hall. There are clues to be found and prizes to be won along the way.
“There are some really imaginative creations” said Vanessa Woodcock, who is coordinating the event. “One group is making a family of scarecrows having a picnic on the grass.”
At the end of the trail, there are welcome tea and cakes in the Old School Hall or if you feel a bit more peckish, meals will be served all day in Penrallt Garden Centre above the bay. Handmade crafts, plants, and cakes will also be on sale in the hall.
Kids can show off their painting and drawing skills in the scarecrow picture competition. Hand in your picture any time over the weekend. Judging will be on Monday afternoon for age groups 0-5, 6-11 and 11-15.
Tomorrow night’s barbecue party starts at 7pm, and includes dancing to acclaimed country and western duo Memphis Belle. Tickets are £3 (kids free).
