Pembrokeshire County Council’s director of Social Services intends to tackle Pembrokeshire’s “legacy of historic abuse”.

In the introduction to his annual report, which will come before the authority’s Safeguarding Overview and Scrutiny Committee today (Thursday), director Jake Morgan said he would continue to encourage full disclosure.

“To deal with these (historic abuse cases) effectively I am determined that we continue to publicise the importance of anyone who has information about historic cases to come forward so that they can be fully investigated,” he wrote in the document, which provides information regarding the performance of adult and children’s services in the county.

Mr Morgan also said he had written to all members of staff to remind them of whistle-blowing procedures.

In 2013, the authority committed to massive organisational changes, in order to address well-publicised shortfalls in child protection services within education.
