THEATR Gwaun was filled with laughter when the Pint-Sized Plays Script Slam took place on Saturday, October 4.

The event, now in its seventh year, is a leading international competition for short ten minute plays, which this year attracted more than 300 entries from all over the world.

Ten plays were performed at the Script Slam and all were enthusiastically received by a packed audience which was given the unenviable task of voting for the Best Script of 2014.

In third place was 'Ruby & Pearl' by Jaye Swift from Llantwit Major, the runner up was 'The Weatherman' by Giles Cole and the winner was 'Vent' by Gavin Harrison.

All three winning writers were at the theatre to receive their awards – a pint pot for the winner and a half pint pot for the runner up.

Peter Richards, artistic director of Fluellen Theatre Company was also present on the evening to hand out awards for the best performances.

In third place were Gary Crane and Richard James for ‘The Weatherman’ directed by Sarah Sherriff, the runners up were Gary Crane, Allison Butler and newcomer Carys Russell for ‘Rachel Says’ directed by Derek Webb, and the winning performances came from Nick Wears, Gwen Watson and Siobhan Ashe in ‘Multitasking’ directed by Sarah Sherriff.
