Four giant ferry propeller blades, weighing nearly seven tonnes and worth a total of £240,000, have been stolen from Fishguard Harbour.

The copper alloy propeller blades, which are spares for the Stena Europe, were being stored at the harbour, near to the lifeboat shed.

Dyfed-Powys police said they received a report that the blades, each of which is over six foot tall, had been taken in September. It is believed they were removed sometime between August 26 and September 21.

The propeller blades each weigh around 1.7 tonnes and would have required specialised equipment to remove.

Although worth around £60,000 each their scrap value would be far less, estimated at around £5,000 per propeller blade. A spokesman for Stena Line said that the blades were insured.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious around the above dates, or anyone with information that can help police with their enquiries, should ring the non emergency number 101.
