A KEEN cyclist spent more than eight hours in the saddle to raise money for Shalom House.

Mike Simms from Haverfordwest completed a 118 mile round trip from Haverfordwest to Swansea on Saturday, April 25.

He was accompanied and supported by his friend Morgan Pearce, also from Haverfordwest.

A total of £1,820 was raised for the palliative care unit in St Davids.

Mike and his wife Pam recently visited Shalom House to present a cheque to nurse manager Allyson Burrows.

The money will help with the purchase of a new ceiling hoist in one of the bedrooms.

Mike is no stranger to mammoth cycle challenges, having done one for Withybush Hospital 10 years ago.

When he decided to do another he wanted to make sure the proceeds again went to a local cause.

Mike is very grateful to all who have supported him along the way, especially to his wife Pam, and to everyone who sponsored him.
