TWO groups of paddle boarders caught in offshore winds were rescued by RNLI lifeguards off Newgale beach on Sunday afternoon.

Six people – two teenagers and their father, and two men and an 18 year old girl –were caught out by offshore winds as they paddle boarded off the coast of Newgale on Sunday afternoon. The two groups - who were well prepared and had hired all the appropriate safety kit - were caught out after the winds changed direction, pushing them further out to sea. RNLI lifeguards Scott Candler and Moritz Newmann, who were providing safety cover on the beach over the weekend, saw that the two groups were struggling to paddle against the winds and launched the inshore rescue boat to offer their assistance.

The RNLI lifeguards made numerous journeys backwards and forth as they returned all five paddle boarders and their kit safely back to shore.
