THE changes to maternity, paediatrics and SCBU are continuing to be reviewed with a special public meeting to be held on Wednesday (July 29).

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has been asking for public views and experiences on the changes pushed through by Hywel Dda University Health Board and the Welsh Government.

The meeting follows the launching of an online review and ‘webinar’ reported on earlier this month.

Head of invited reviews at Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Sue Eardley has said that more than 300 people have already filled in the online survey and asked people to keep their comments coming in.

She added in a Facebook post: “Looking forward to meeting everyone. The meeting will be informal and all seven members of the review team (and possibly the eighth, Clare, our anaesthetist) will be there to listen to your experiences, explain how we are doing the review and some of the factors that we will be taking into account when we draft our report. That way everyone should have a chance to talk to at least one of us and we will share together afterwards what we have heard to make sure we have looked at all the right things in the review. Thank you all so much for helping us in this way.”

Health campaigners SWAT (Save Withybush Action Team) is urging people to come along as it could be the “last chance to have your say” on the changes which has seen consultant obstetric services, overnight paediatrics and special care baby services removed from Pembrokeshire to Glangwili in Carmarthen.

The meeting will be held at the Withybush Conference Centre, Haverfordwest, 5.30pm to 7pm.

You can have your say at www.rcpch.ac.uk/invitedreviews under the Hywel Dda evaluation of maternity, neonatal and paediatric services section before August 17.
