HUNDREDS of motorists will hit the road again on Sunday for the annual Western Telegraph County Run.

This year's event, on September 6, will feature an 85-mile route taking in some of Pembrokeshire's most glorious scenery and for the first time will also divert to Cardigan to celebrate the opening of the castle there.

The run sets off from Withybush Showground, on the outskirts of Haverfordwest at 10.30am with a chance to view the cars beforehand from 10am.

They will then cross over the start line before heading to Newgale, Solva, and St Davids where they are expected to arrive from 11am.

From there they will travel on to Goodwick, Fishguard, Dinas and Newport.

The halfway stop is at the Dyfed Shire Horse Farm at Eglwyswrw where cars are expected to arrive from about noon.

This year, instead of heading back inland, the route will then take articipants on to Cardigan town centre by 12.45pm, past the castle before looping back down to Narberth via Crymych on the A478. Cars are expected to arrive at Narberth from 2pm.

They will then head back along the A40 to Haverfordwest, returning to Withybush from 2.30pm.

Vehicles of all shapes, sizes and ages are expected to take part with classic and vintage cars, as well as kit cars, motorbikes and much loved commercial vehicles.

This year's event is in aid of the Paul Sartori Foundation. Also, as it is the 75th Anniversary of the battle of Britain drivers and passengers are being invited to arrive in wartime dress (1940s etc).

The event is organised each year by a small committee led by Jeff and Sian Edwards.

They have thanked sponsors, participants and spectators for their support each year.
