Two elderly Pembrokeshire ponies have been tracked down with the help of a psychic after vanishing from their field and going missing for two weeks.

Carolyn Morgan, who runs the Crosswell Horse Agency, feared the worst when 25 year-old Sally and Bubbles, aged 27, disappeared from their paddock without a trace earlier this month.

It is now though that the gate had been left open, and the bay pair escaped after being spooked by fireworks.

The police were contacted and neighbours rallied to help after their field was discovered empty, but there was no sign for two weeks and Carolyn began to wonder if they had been stolen.

Carolyn said: “I asked a psychic to help, I was grasping at straws really. She stood in their field and told me that they were alive.”

The psychic became drawn to an area at the bottom of a valley, which was in the local area but difficult to access, and the search took them through woods and up and down steep banks to a deep and fast flowing river.

Pony tracks and skid marks were spotted on the sheer bank, but the river was too dangerous to cross and Carolyn and her friend had to approach the area visualised by the psychic from another direction.

Sally and Bubbles were spotted at the bottom of the marshy valley and were reunited with Carolyn who took them back to her yard for some food and rest after their adventure.

Carolyn said: “We went down into the valley and found them. They were a bit thin and were very pleased to see me. It took a few days but they are now brighter and more chirpy.

“I couldn’t believe it. We wouldn’t have thought to look all the way down there. I was so pleased I cried. It was amazing.”

She added: “Lots of people have been trying to find them, everyone has been so good. “I’ve owned them for 15 years and so many people learned to ride on them. They’re like family.”
