A YOUNG man left fighting for his life following an alleged knife attack in Haverfordwest is making a good recovery, his relieved family have told the Western Telegraph.

Eighteen-year-old Jordan Rees was airlifted to Morriston Hospital after an alleged stabbing at Rifleman Field on Monday, September 19.

His older sister Kirsty-Leigh said the family were delighted at the progress Jordan was making after doctors said he was “lucky to be alive”.

“Considering what happened he’s actually doing so well, he’s coming on in leaps and bounds but we don’t know when he can come out yet.

“Doctors are very pleased with what’s happened over the weekend – Jordan is walking little bits, sitting up and eating a bit,” she added.

Jordan went into surgery for two-and-a half hours when he was admitted to hospital last week.

Kirsty-Leigh added: “He’s still on various tubes but the progress he’s making is amazing. He’s so brave and we’re so proud of him.”

Jordan’s family have spent every day at his side in hospital and thanked everyone for their support and kind words.

Kirsty-Leigh has been updating Jordan’s large group of friends via Facebook on his progress, along with many others in the community who had been left shocked by what happened.

Her most recent post, which included a smiling photo of the pair, stated: “So this handsome man is looking a lot better today!!

“Slowly but surely getting there!! I can proudly say in the last 12 hours he has eaten bits and pieces, sat in the chair, walked a little bit, off the morphine, belly painkiller removed, no tube in his nose to belly and has had bandages removed from the wounds!

"Still a hell of a fight to go but bro we are super super proud of you!! You've been so brave and not complained once! We cannot tell you how proud we are, it cannot be put into words!! Love you loads.”

  • Liam Newman, of Goshawk Road, Haverfordwest, appeared before magistrates last week charged with wounding.

No pleas have yet been entered and Newman was bailed to an address outside the county. He is due to appear at Swansea Crown Court on October 21.
