After such a wet day on Saturday we were very lucky to have a warm and sunny day. The coastal flowers were an amazing sight with the thrift, white and pink campions, violets, cowslips, pale blue squills and the scented gorse.

The coastal scenery is spectacular on this stretch, St Justinians, Porthlysgi where Lysgi – an early Irish raider landed and killed a local Celtic Chieftain.

Round the headland to Porth Clais once the port for St David’s and on to St Non’s Bay. St Non was St David’s mother and the medieval chapel in the field was dedicated to her. St David was possibly born here in about 462AD. The Holy Well close by was re-dedicated in 1951 and famed for curing rheumatism and eye ailments.

The May Flies were out and about in their hundreds a bit annoying, also an adder crossed the path on the way out of Whitesands, I gave him a wide berth!

The next walk is Sunday 3rd May was from Broad Haven to Martins Haven just over 10 miles. Leave your car at Martins Haven get on the Puffin Shuttle to Broad Haven and walk back to the car.

We have made use of the Coastal Bus whenever possible.
