WALKS ON SUNDAY 21st July & TUESDAY 23rd July On Sunday June 21st, Daphne Graham, myself and two friends from Lamphey walked from Pembroke Castle to Popton point (BP Angle) 9 miles.

Not one of the most scenic of walks, but a necessary one when walking all of the Coast Path trail. There were still plenty to see, the wild flowers were plentiful, also wading birds.

Walking through Monkton all on road until a path across fields and a lane takes you pass Quoits Mill up the hill and the commencement of the Coast Path.

Around the Power Station and on to Lambeeth farm which is quite pleasant, rural and unspoilt. Good views in all directions.

It was very overgrown in most parts from here onwards, we were glad to get back on the road and the concrete section at Popton Point. We continued that stretch on Tuesday 23rd June from Popton to West Angle about 5 and a half miles. The first section is an easy path through fields and a wooded path where the foxgloves were magnificent ,as were periwinkle, clover and even fields of dandelions, ‘ideal for the bees and pollinating insects.

But after passing Bullwell Bay we needed to fight our way through the undergrowth in the wood and long grass in the fields.

Coming into Angle village is lovely and from here around the shore road passing the Old Point House Inn (closed unfortunately! ) Pass the lifeboat station along the cliffs overlooking Thorn Island and into West Angle Bay.

There were a lot of visitors on that walk and at West Angle Bay who gave generously to our ‘Highway Man’ Graham with his collecting tin.

We have now completed around 146 miles of the Sponsored Walk, and have received a lot of support from people we meet on the way, that makes it all worthwhile.

Our next walk is on Saturday June 27th when we will be walking across Castlemartin range – having had permission from the Army.
