Saundersfoot (163 for 5) lost to Lawrenny (166 for 4) by six wickets

LAWRENNY maintained their recent improved form as they chased down Saundersfoot’s decent score with such conviction that they did it with six wickets and more than seven overs to spare.

Saundersfoot batted first and managed a respectable 163 for 5 as Rob Williams and Jamie Lewis claimed identical figures of 2 for 45 for Lawrenny, assisted by Alistair Edwards’ 1 for 15 analysis.

Seasiders’ skipper Paul Mansbridge survived a couple of chances to lead the batting with an innings of 70 (nine fours and a six), sharing a fourth-wicket partnership of 78 with Sam Franklyn (three fours and a six in his 43), plus little cameos from Paul Morris (15) and Steve Cook (13).

But an opening stand of 76 between Andrew Cole (49) and Hugh Griffiths (35), before the latter was run out, put Lawrenny on the right track and further good batting by Joe Kidney (34) and Steve Lewis (16 not out) was enough to take Lawrenny home, despite useful Saundersfoot bowling by Neil Powling (3 for 41) and Morgan Slate (1 for 29).
