Llanrhian (145 all out) lost to Haverfordwest (160 all out) by 15 runs
LLANRHIAN came very close to a rare success against Haverfordwest at Llandigige Fawr as they needed only 21 runs with five wickets remaining but no-one was able to stay long in support of an outstanding innings of 70 not out (nine fours and a six) by Dominic Wright and relieved The Town collected very welcome win points.
Haverfordwest were dismissed for 160 in the 45th over as Dominic Wright (3 for 38) and Gareth Davies (4 for 34) were the principal wicket-takers for Llanrhian, with The Town reaching their total thanks in the main to Simon Holliday (26), Kieran Griffiths (16), Danny Potter (31), Huw Scriven (three sixes in his 31) and Josh Wilment (a late 14 not out). Matthew Bennett (1 for 52) and Luke Jones (2 for 36) were the other Llanrhian wicket-takers.
Jack Jones (24) and Gareth Davies (16) joined Wright for a while against Josh Wilment (2 for 17), Nigel Morgan (1 for 21), Dai Davies (2 for 13) and Holliday (4 for 41).
Huw Scriven also caught the eye behind the stumps, with three stumpings and two catches for The Town - and Llanrhian will look back on this as a game they really should have won.
