Gents
THERE was no golf played this week by the men as the club is between seasons added to which the weather this week made play almost impossible. On Sunday, Club Captain Gwyn Scale was representing the Club at the Armistice Day Parade in Milford Haven, which despite the rain was well attended and a very moving occasion.
Winter Season starts this Saturday and will be a Match-play competition, see the notice boards for the details.
Greens Restaurant
ON Sunday, The Greens Restaurant along with serving many of our regular customers was also host to the Mayor of Milford Haven and guests from the town twinning organisation as well as representatives from the two twinned towns of Romilly-sur-Seine, France and Uman, Ukraine. They all enjoyed a three course traditional Sunday Roast.
Ladies
LAST Tuesday, only five ladies were brave enough to battle the elements and play some golf, although due to the tough conditions, they only played nine holes and then came back to the clubhouse for some warm refreshments.
On Sunday, a small number of ladies had entered the last tournament of the year - a Texas Scramble which is considered a fun event and a nice way to end the annual golfing calendar. Despite a few light showers, the ladies continued on and the winning team were Liz Durward, Cheryl Eva and Barbara Phillips who were presented with a bottle of wine each from the Lady Captain, Pat Evans.
Juniors
LAST Sunday, Junior Section Presentation Day, golf was played in the morning on both the main course and the juniors mini course, for the most part the weather held off but there was some heavy showers, the mini course especially was muddy underfoot but this did not discourage the players. After play there was a meal in the club house cooked by Patrick from The Greens Restaurant. The Sausage Chips and Beans went down very well.
Junior organiser Simon Nicholas then made a speech and presentation of all the prizes. He thanked all those who had helped throughout the year including sponsors and parents, special thanks including a bottle and a voucher for The Greens Restaurant was given to Owain Picton for all his hard work.
Below is a list of the trophies and their winners, but it is not just at home that our junior section has had great success this year. Simon had much to tell us of their success in regional competitions. At the Carmarthen Junior Open Jack Jenkins won the 9 Hole Competition. Callum Day played for Dyfed juniors against their senior counterparts at Ashburnham and won his match by scoring a hole in one on the 13th. The MHGC Junior Team came 3rd in the Dyfed order of merit. Ben Fawcett walked away with the stableford prize at the Dyfed Junior Championships at Cardigan. Abe Forsyth won the Alan Scott Cup in the Dyfed Under 13s.
Our Junior Golfer of the year Brandon Cooper had many great successes both at home and away including Super Six regular, Welsh team player, best gross at the Glyn Abbey Open, runner up in the Dyfed order of merit, Welsh Schools Champion, and he beat the top English under 18 at Conway. He has been asked to be the Junior Captain of the Dyfed Golfing Union for 2015.
