Tenby 3

Hakin United 2

HAKIN United suffered their first defeat of the season at Tenby.

The champions were unbeaten during the league campaign last season, and were unbeaten going into the clash at the Clicketts on Saturday. The Seasiders did knock the Vikings out of the Senior Cup at the same place last season – so the Vikings can count this as a bit of a bogey ground.

Tenby took the lead in the 25th minute when Dave Rees scored with a cracking volley.

Five minutes later and they doubled the lead, Scott Ferney played precision through ball to Joe Leahy, the striker tucking the ball past James Manson.

Five minutes before half time and Justin Harding pulled one back with a neat left foot finish from six yards.

Ten minutes after the break and Sonny Phillips added a third for Tenby, scoring directly from an edge of the area free-kick.

The Vikings went down to ten men as keeper Manson was red carded for taking out Leahy. Gareth Fawcett took on the keeper’s role.

On the hour mark and the ten man Vikings were awarded a penalty. Tenby keeper Dafydd Jones took down Adam Davies. Nicky Woodrow made no mistake from 12-yards, setting up a tense finish.

Fawcett pulled off a stunning save to deny Leahy. The Vikings piled on the pressure but couldn’t find that elusive equaliser and their unbeaten record was gone.
