MILFORD Haven Karate Club travelled to the first leg of the 2015-16 new season of the Welsh Karate League.

For a small squad there was success for Chloe Boswell, who once again showed that she is one of the top girls in Wales, she reached the final and just missed out on the gold medal, it was a great achievement as she sustained a hand injury in the earlier rounds but fought on, it later revealed that she had broken her thumb.

There was another silver medal for the under 14s team consisting of Josh Whatlin, Chloe Boswell and Kaine Bamborough Lewis, who narrowly lost 2-1 in the final against a good Swansea team, who had European gold and bronze medallists in their ranks.

Instructor Kevin John said: “I’m so pleased for them but it has come at a price, Chloe won’t compete for a while, she is absolutely gutted and Kaine broke his toe.

“It comes with the sport and they understand this happens - they will come back even stronger.”

It just goes to show that Milford Karate Club can compete with the best clubs in the country, and that the training alongside the world and European champions is paying off.
