Haverfordwest County 4-1 Aberystwyth Town
HAVERFORDWEST County sealed an impressive four-goal victory over fellow Welsh Premier outfit Aberystwyth Town to progress in the Word Cup.
Despite going behind to an early goal scored by Aber’s Craig Williams, the reshuffled Bluebirds outfit fought back to claim an impressive victory.
Unfortunately new signing Liam Hutchinson limped off early following recurrence of his troublesome groin injury; he was replaced by the fully committed Sean Pemberton, who went onto have a cracking match.
Striker John Roberts equalised and within a couple of minutes industrious midfielder Declan Carroll doubled the lead as Haverfordwest County led 2-1 at half time.
With barely a minute gone in the second half, the hosts’ grabbed a third goal, Christopher got on the end of Steffan Williams’ clever by-line cross and that goal really put his side in the driving seat.
Former Bluebird Rhys Griffiths struck Craig Morris’ left hand post, the Aber striker really should have scored, the formidable goal scorer also missed with a six yard header in the first period.
The hosts put the result beyond doubt when Christopher bagged his second of the tie; Carroll’s free kick in the box caught the Aber defence napping, the striker reacted quickest and he struck a fierce shot into the roof of the net.
This Saturday, October 3, Haverfordwest County have a West Wales Welsh Premier League derby with Carmarthen Town, the kick–off is at 5.15pm, this clash is also being televised live on S4C.
