AFTER a few weeks off we were all pleased to be heading to Italy last weekend to get some rugby action back underway. The start of the season has been stop-start and people are managing it in different ways.

We had a three and a half hour plane journey over to Parma on Saturday afternoon. I played cards with James Davies, Emyr Phillips and Aaron Shingler to pass time and roomed with the usual roomy – Kirby Myhill.
For me personally it was great to get the number one shirt back on my back, and get a first start after all the training in the summer.

If you watched the game on Sunday afternoon you’ll know that we didn’t get off to the best of starts. Zebre made us work for it and headed into the changing rooms two points ahead at half time.

It maybe didn’t show it on the TV but the pitch was soft after some heavy rain out there and it was boiling – like 29 degrees!

It was a real tough game with too many errors from us but a much better performance overall in the second half saw us come away with a victory which was the most important thing. We have another weekend off this weekend which means we have some time this week to put things right.

With three wins from three in the opening rounds of the PRO12 we’re happy to be sitting at the top of the league table. It’s important however that we don’t become complacent and sit on our laurels. We have three big Friday night games coming up in the next few weeks at the Parc and we need all the support we can get. If you can make it up from Pembrokeshire it would be very much appreciated as always.

We have another few days off now as there’s no game on the weekend but come the end of the week we’ll be back into full training in preparation for the big clash against Leinster which a week Friday at the Parc.

Hope you can all make it up to support and help us stay top of the league!
