James 'Cubby' Davies will tonight become the first sportsman or woman to have both represented Pembrokeshire and won an Olympic medal after Team GB beat South Africa 7-5 to reach the final of the Men's 7s earlier tonight.
The 25-year-old was again pivotal to his side's win, making two clean breaks in the first half, having a hand in Dan Norton's crucial try, and again winning numerous turnovers on the ground.
Team GB trailed 5-0 at half time against the Springboks as Kyle Brown cut over.
But with a strong wind behind them after the break, Norton went under the posts after terrific link up play from the outstanding Davies and Dan Bibby.
Tom Mitchell converted to give Team Gb a 7-5 lead - before Team GB withstood some late pressure to secure a guaranteed medal from the first ever Men's 7s event in the Olympic Games.
Simon Amos' side will now face Fiji in the Deodoro Stadium at 11pm BST.
